The First Annual Santa Cruz Comedy Festival


The First Annual Santa Cruz Comedy Festival takes place on Friday, October 10th from 7pm to 2am in Downtown Santa Cruz. (Full Schedule Coming Soon. . . )


Eight venues/one night/fifty stand-up comics, this is the start of a landmark event.

Featuring a mix of sensational local comedians alongside the most highlighted comedians in the entire Bay Area, seven of the shows are free, three of the events are suitable for ages 16+ and one All Star Special performance at the Kuumbwa is the golden ticket.


7-8pm: Kick Off Comedy Art Party at the Kuumbwa with the world’s most celebrated comedian photographer, Dan Dion. As the house photographer for The Fillmore and The Warfield, Dion has photographed over 1000 famous comedians over the years. Tonight he will be showcasing some of his most treasured works.  Please join us as we launch this funny festival.

8pm-9:30pm: A special evening of musical comedy at Streetlight Records featuring such acts as Eventual Ukulele Superstar Emily Yates and DJ REAL. “DJ REAL was a very strange and strangely wonderful combination of Lo-fi recording artist and Andy Kaufman comedian.” – SF Weekly

8:30—10pm:  Free comedy shows at The Poet & The Patriot Irish Pub, Surf City, Rosie McCann’s, Calahan’s and 99 Bottles–featuring the headliners of this year’s Santa Cruz Comedy Festival alongside Santa Cruz and Bay Area favorites.

8:30—10pm: While the headliners rush around Santa Cruz performing at various venues, there is one way to see them all. The Kuumbwa Jazz Center hosts this year’s exciting line-up featuring the next wave of stand-up comic genius. With, Andrew Norelli (David Letterman), Kellen Erskine (America’s Got Talent), Red Scott (Co-creator of the podcast Boars, Gore and Swords), Jabari Baraka Davis (Yoshi’s, Punchline), Shanti Charan (Punchline), Kevin O’Shea (Punchline), Matt Lieb (Voted Best of the Bay Area), Brendan Lynch (Comedy Central) and DJ Real. 10pm-1:30: Local Cavalcade of Comedy: Tampico Restaurant will host the First Annual Santa Cruz Comedy Festival’s after festival microphone, loose and off the cuff, see all the local comics that donated their time helping run the festival and many of the headliners in this final dash to the funny.
