Dan St. Germain

By

Dan St. Germain has been stockpiling the accolades: Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Comedy Central, The Artie Lange Show, WTF with Marc Maron. . . actually it’s a long list. You should go out, or order online, his album Bad at the Good Things. Or go to his show at The Crepe Place on August 1st and buy it there. Last time around it sold out, so get tix now: http://tinyurl.com/3ozegbt

This might have been one of the more cursed interviews—it took two cell phones, a couple of dropped calls and a train seemed to be permanently going by. It seems …

Neil Hamburger Will Never Sell Out!

By

For nearly two decades the identity of Neil Hamburger has been a well-guarded secret. With a greasy disheveled phlegmy approach to comedy Neil Hamburger has amused and disgusted audiences across the globe playing dives, off kilter venues and even playing Madison Square Garden in New York City. An exceptionally revealing recent interview (http://tinyurl.com/oqr5zk9) finds Neil Hamburger’s creator Gregg Turkington candidly speaking about his early years. SUSC was pleasantly surprised to find Turkington shedding away the Neil Hamburger character for a quick interview in advance of his CREPE PLACE SHOW SATURDAY JULY 25th more info here: http://tinyurl.com/onbyla7

Dan Cummins: Heroes and Zeroes.

By

Dan Cummins has been on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central, Tonight Show with Conan, has four hour long releases under his belt and now hosts the morning show on The Playboy Channel. Just that last resume tid-bit should be enough to check in with this very funny dude. SUSC and Dan get into the nitty gritty of the biz.

How did you start doing stand-up in 2000 and end up in the Seattle Comedy Competition in 2001?

I rose up fast, but circumstance was part of it. There wasn’t an open mic scene in …

Jackie Kashian: Better with a Punchline!

By

Jackie Kashian once heckled Sam Kinison, worked for Bill Kinison and was part of the fabled Alternative comedy scene alongside peers like Maria Bamford, Patton Oswalt and Paul F. Tompkins. From appearances on Conan, Comedy Central and Last Comic Standing, Kashian is an honest to goodness working comic. Beginners Guide to the Chico Comedy Festival 2015

By

Greetings,

It’s tough to wrap ones brain around new festivals, so let’s break it down step-by-step.

On Saturday Night, April 18th at 8 venues throughout downtown Chico, 50 (30+ in the main fest, 20+ at the late nights) comedians will be performing.

This is the Crème de la crème of California’s comedy scene. And, I probably lost most of you with the “crème” word, but it means “the best”. By “best” I mean all of the comics have either

A. Been on Comedy Central, MTV or a feature film.

B. Performed overseas for the troops

C. Or, been voted Best in their city by a …

Kyle Kinane: Good at Comedy, Bad at Bullshit.

By

By just listening to his voice, you would think Kyle Kinane is a crusty old dude in his advanced years. Truth is, Kinane is far younger than that, although also, far crustier. With a punk rock ethos and a knack for hilarious takes both sober and drunk, Kinane exudes a kind of wisdom that far belies his years.

Kinane’s won @midnite 7 times, the “voice” on Comedy Central that introduces all their programing (since 2011), a favorite on a wide spectrum of podcasts including WTF, The Nerdist and the Adam Corolla Show and a veteran of comedy specials. SUSC joins …
